Childhood and Education
From a young age, it became clear that Marco Eisinga had a strong talent for drawing. At the Albert Schweitzer School, his creative abilities were quickly recognized by a teacher, who encouraged him to further develop his artistic skills.
After finishing school, Marco attended a graphic design program at the Grafisch Lyceum Amsterdam. During his studies, he learned to master the full design process and developed not only as an illustrator, but also technically. His interest in new techniques and digital applications grew significantly during this period.
Marco experimented early on with airbrush techniques, illustration, and later digital image editing. From the moment Photoshop became available, he increasingly immersed himself in digital illustration, photo editing, and 3D techniques.
Career
Marco Eisinga began his career at several advertising agencies, where he worked as an illustrator and later specialized in image editing and 3D animation. Over the years, he worked on countless campaign illustrations, digital edits, and creative projects. In doing so, he developed into a versatile artist who moves effortlessly between realistic imagery and humorous cartoon styles.
Through his colleague Saskia van Haasteren, Marco became familiar with the work and humor of Jan van Haasteren. The recognizable style immediately appealed to him, and thanks to his strong visual memory and sense of composition, he quickly mastered it.
In 2022, Marco received an honorable mention at the Inktspotprijs.
Studio Jan van Haasteren
Marco Eisinga was part of Studio Jan van Haasteren for several years. His first assignments involved expanding and adapting existing illustrations by Jan van Haasteren, where his digital skills proved especially valuable. Later, he also worked on entirely new puzzles.
Within the studio, Marco contributed to puzzles such as Darts, Acrobat Circus, The Winter Games, and King’s Day. Acrobat Circus is one of the puzzles Marco himself considers among the most enjoyable projects he created for the studio.
Around 2021, Marco temporarily stopped working for the studio. In January 2026, he returned and rejoined the team as the sixth illustrator at Studio Jan van Haasteren.
